The developments of organic thin film solar cells (organic semiconductor solar cells) have received a tremendous boost over the last decade. There are two typical manufacturing processes, spin-coating and vacuum sublimation. A spin-coating technique involves first the dissolution of the semiconductor materials in an appropriate organic solvent followed by its deposition on the supporting substrate. A vacuum sublimation technique involves depositing insoluble materials under high vacuum to produce a thin-film.
These organic thin film solar cells are lightweight and have high process ability while maintaining low production costs and can be expected to emerge as the next generation of solar cells replacing silicon solar cells which are currently in common use.
Currently, TCI is exercising considerable efforts in the development of high purity organic semiconductor materials by employing the sublimation refining technique. This page also enlists the different electrolytes available for use in Lithium-ion batteries.”
